With Vektus’ Proactive Upgrade service, we support you before, during, and after Microsoft’s ongoing updates—with testing, consulting, and reliable management of the process.

Get the most out of your upgrades—with Proactive Upgrading

With a Proactive Upgrade agreement, we’ll guide you safely through Microsoft’s two annual major releases in Business Central Cloud.

You get an overview, planning, and testing—before changes affect production—and your operations.

As a general rule, all customers have a Basic agreement

As a Vektus customer, you generally have a “Basic Agreement.” Under this agreement, we assist with the initial parameter configuration and telemetry setup, but you are then responsible for handling ongoing updates yourself.

You can then choose to sign up for a Standard or Premium plan if you want more testing, consulting, and operational reliability.

Why Proactive Upgrading?

Business Central Cloud is updated automatically. This applies to the platform, apps, and customer-specific extensions. It provides new functionality—but also carries the risk of service disruptions if you are not prepared.

As a general rule, a Microsoft major release follows the schedule below, so you have time to plan your update.

Here’s what you should know:

  • Microsoft releases two major updates per year (April 1 and October 1).

  • Updates may be made 14 days after release and no later than 10 months thereafter.

  • There is no guarantee that an upgrade will not affect the operating system.

  • Apps also receive updates on an ongoing basis.

Proactive upgrading is about staying ahead of the curve—both technically and in business.

What do you get with Proactive Upgrade?

This agreement supplements your existing partnership and focuses on major upgrades to Business Central Cloud.

If you are a Vektus customer, you generally have a Basic plan. You can choose to upgrade your Basic plan to either a Standard or Premium plan.

Frequently asked questions about Proactive Upgrades for Business Central

When companies work on Business Central Cloud upgrades, a number of questions often arise: Where should we start? What provides the most value? How do we avoid service disruptions when Microsoft updates the system?

Here, we’ve compiled answers to some of the questions we most frequently encounter when speaking with Vektus customers.

Proactive upgrading is about staying ahead of Microsoft’s ongoing updates to Business Central Cloud. Instead of reacting once changes have already impacted operations, we take a structured approach to planning, testing, and consulting before, during, and after upgrades to ensure your business runs smoothly.

Business Central Cloud is updated automatically—including the platform, apps, and any customer-specific extensions. This provides access to new functionality, but also carries a risk of operational disruptions. A proactive approach minimizes the risk of downtime and unforeseen consequences in critical processes.

As a Vektus customer, you generally have a Basic agreement, which provides for basic setup and telemetry. With Standard and Premium agreements, the partnership is expanded to include more comprehensive testing, planning, and consulting, so that upgrades are carried out in a more controlled manner and with greater business confidence.

We help companies navigate Microsoft’s two annual major releases safely by, among other things, testing upgrades in a sandbox environment before they go live. This allows us to identify potential challenges well in advance and ensures peace of mind for both operations and the business.

Yes. Many companies find that unprepared upgrades can disrupt daily workflows. By taking a systematic approach to testing, monitoring, and communication, proactive upgrades ensure that changes are managed in a controlled manner and that critical processes continue to function as expected.

Typically, we find that companies with business-critical processes in finance, inventory, or production benefit particularly from a proactive upgrade agreement. Regardless of the type of business, the agreement provides a better overview, fewer surprises, and the opportunity to take advantage of new features—without putting operations at risk.
